New CE Tails installed in Black Max

Well it was a nightmare, but I got them installed. They DO NOT fit well and need to be altered. The plastic studs on the inside of the outer tail are to long and do not allow the tail to index properly. You will need to be patient for this installation. I like the look, and still feel it was worth it even though it shouldn't have been that much work.

Looks nice... take some closeups of the fitment...(gaps/line up, etc.).

Looks pretty good. I dont like the fact that we can see that orange in there, thats something small I'm sure I'll over look soon.

umm, again...debadge the trunk, drop it, and get rid of that orange piece inside the tail (still visible and not really "clear").

it's probably just the orange bulb; just replace it with a clear one.

I agree 100%. Shouldn't have that amber inside. In reality, the tail is really 50% clear and still 50% amber.

My 97 red clears are 100% clear. Although the light bulb is amber, you cannot see it because I bought these awesome-looking chrome plated bulbs. Therefore, eliminating any amber there was.

Nicely put. Cosmetics are subjective... people have to stop imposing their idea of what looks good onto others.

It is just the color of the bulb guys, as you assumed it was. I was thinking an amber led bulb would look good in there since you wouldn't see the amber.

The fitment is fukcing pathetic. A half hour job has quickly turned into an hour and I'm not even half way done. There are gaps around the inners and gaps around the outers. I am thinking about returning them already because the fitment is so bad. I am not sure about them yet. They look good but so far fitment has been the worst I have seen on any lighting.

the DTM version of these tails should look pretty sick. I'd love to see the tails with Orange led bulbs so its has the all clear look like the 97+ but with orange bulbs.

I must say this does look better. I thought the whole point of getting them was to get rid of the orange color.

thats not good news... any one talk to CM about this yet? you would think they would have test fitted a prototype before ordering 2000 of these...

I'm sure they had the original factory lights to use as a mould/prototype - and they probably did some test fitting... I can understand slight differences, but from the two reports back so far, it doesn't seem like these are QC issues - seems like they never took the time to tweak the mold/test fit...

So I just got off the phone with CustomEnterprise and they said that was an original problem with the studs being too long and they had test fitted them on a few cars with no problems but now it is back apparently. I told him I would take pictures and email them to him and then I would try to dremel it down to make fitment better so I will let everyone know how it goes.

Man, that sucks. I was truly happy for you 95/96 guys when these tails came out. However, now it's nothing but negative reflections with SO FAR them being the following:

1) Still looks orange. Yes, probably due to the orange bulb. IMO, it's either clear look or amber...anything in between just won't do.

2) Fit seems to be a problem as a couple members have already pointed out. It's no coincidence my friends. I understand a minor glitch here and there, but for us to have to use a dremel, what the hell?

Im pretty sure they are sold out of the first batch

And to those complaining that it stills looks orange, its the orange bulb. Same reason why clear corners still look orange. ORANGE BULBS. Get some coated bulbs and problem solved.

Yeah the orange look is only the bulb so no one needs to complain about that. They sincerely thought they had all the fitment problems gone so mabye it will only be this first batch but I will dremel it and let everyone know how it comes out.

Thanks for contacting is Zach to let us know about the fitment issue. I already posted some info on the other thread:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=412708

As I mentioned in my other thread we had this problem in one of our samples but we had the factory correct them. We test fitted the new sample on both a 95 and 96 maxima and the fitment was perfect, so this puzzles me. I already have a call in to the factory right now to see what the issue is and will keep you posted. Thanks again for the info as this helps us make the product even better.

As far as the amber bulbs, we will be offering clear bulbs that still light up amber. Just have to locate some good ones then we will offer them with the lights.

Not sure if this is true or not, but i heard that tail light fittment is differend in cars outside the U.S. which might explain why the prototype fit, but not the ones you guys are trying...

Something small that could possibly be why.

Just grab a few washers and slap them on there. Problem solved. That's what I had to do with my altezzas when I had them before. It seems as a half hour job that should have taken you a half hour and no where near as much complaining.

Yeah the bolts are too long or something, check the for sale forums, the guy from custom enterprise wrote out what was wrong.

That is completely opposite of what we are trying to achieve. You want to make the studs SHORTER not longer.
