Not to dig up a dead horse, but did anyone ever reach any conclusion on this? The Nippon part number is actually similar to the OEM, which leads me to think that it's the same... but it's just so inexpensive. If no one ever did get around to it I might just revive the test.

"In reality, the STP S6941 is the best overall choice, especially if you aren't doing the lemming Jiffy Lube 3,000 mile intervals. It's oversized and will do a better filtration job after the 3k point than an OEM filter.....
...The Nissan OEM wins because that's what people are comfortable with and they think Nissan will roll out the red carpet should the VQ seize up before the 60k powertrain expires when we all know Nissan will fight tooth and nail in replacing engines regardless of oil history."
I've been using the STP filter ever since.

"Filters to avoid:
....
STP S6941 (Production change in mid-2003 to Mexico has created inferior quality; Some fitment issues on VQ35DE engines, so only VQ30DE engines should use this one)"

Yeah, I remember seeing the avoid recommendation on the STP filter as well, which is why I was a little confused on that. I may go ahead and place an order for the two filters if no one chimes in.
I did learn something creepy about Wix today... in reference to their fuel filters, a lot of them are sourced from other suppliers. I don't know if this is true on oil filters as well but it was cause for some thought.
