i would think that it is just an enticing gimmick. you can only fit so much air into a 3" pipe. i don't think that it would do any better than throwing a cone filter. i dunno. probably better than a restrictive filter... just my analysis

but i'm no physicist...i'd be interested to hear what others have to say or if anyone knows for sure the result. If it provided any gains, though, i would think that it would have been more popular by know. i bet it's popular with the civic crowd, though

looks like something that will give you less top end then a cone, but you will lose less bottom end, looks a little more restrictive

I would love for you to explain how you came to this conclusion

He used this concept.
Logic will get you from point a to point b, but Imagination will take you everywhere....

who knows some people think they know it all.

We won't know what kind of power we get from that intake system unless someone dyno it...

If our filters were restrictive, then this would "help". Some people have those 8-10in intake filters but it is not making more power than someones 6in filter. Our engine is not sucking in that much air. Hell the TB inlet is only 2.5in.

LOL i have seen those on ebay too...

It does look like it would suck in more are... But like kevlo said the TB is only 2.5 so there really is no point...

looks like the intakes they use on high power supras and skylines which suck in a considerable amount of air.....like this

Notice that each of the cone has a MAF attached to it, which obviously serves a real purpose. The other one is basically a kiddie toy. This thing reminds me of the tornado tb spacer.

Yea...ive had the best results with my stock intake after tampering with cones and such...they are all pieces of crap IMO unless your going hardcore perf. that dual maf. intake for ex.

That's most likely a single turbo conversion. You need that kind of intake to accommodate two MAFs because the original twin-turbo setup had them (one for each turbo), so the ECU will be expecting feedback from both of them.

Am I right?

Either way, in theory I could see the point of having a dual-path intake like that: Low RPMs like longer intake paths, whereas high RPMs like shorter intake paths. To take full advantage of that principle, you'd obviously need some kind of flap that would open either path depending on your RPMs. But -- and again, this is all theory -- there would be some tendency for the air to flow naturally through one path more than the other at really high or low RPMs.

Of course, whether our engines are limited by the intake, and therefore whether they'd benefit by a slight improvement like that, is another story. Given how most people on the .org seem to be talking about intakes and intake mods, I think it's safe to say that they're not.

Plus, see how it says "up to 7hp"? That basically means that if your engine is so highly modded that the intake somehow can't suck enough air in, and if you have a bigger TB, then maybe you'll gain 7hp.

Which is funny, cuz 7hp is still within the range of dyno error.

Conclusion: Gimmick. A tempting gimmick for HKS-lookalike filter elements and $47 shipped with adapter, but still a gimmick.
