Bad Tie Rods?????????

Iv been having suspension problems so i pretty much replaced everthing... now the steering wheel shakes up and down when i go over bumps... i have new ball joints and shocks and swaybar links... im thinking that tie rods could be the culprit?? anybody had the same problem?

Did you replace the LCAs or LCA bushings?

have your tires balanced and ask them to look for bent rim,

inner tie rods will affect the ride , but not to the point that your steering wheel shakes up and down.

More info on shakes would be helpfull, ie: does it happen at certain speed/ does it shake on smooth roads

and rotate your tires , do this first and see what happens

where in IL are you located?

I didnt replace the bushings... cuz i cant find them anywhere.... the wheel only shakes when i go over bumps.. it has nothing to do with bent rims or unbalanced tires.. i can go 120 mph on the highway and now feel anything untill i hit a bump.. by they way i live in Hanover Park

you are experiencing " bump steer " and sadly many maximas suffer same problem,

lots of road feel and every bump and crack in the road is felt through the steering wheel , i've had this issue with my car fo some time , and repalcing baljoints and sway bar bushings did make a noticable difference, but i still get lots of unwanted "road feel " through my steering wheel , it is pretty annoying , but i've learned to live with it

cattman performance sells ES bushings, or suspension.com, or courtesyparts.com, or ebay.com...

Lift up your car and wiggle the front wheel. If it visibly moves with little ease, then take off the wheel and inspect the tie rod.

First time I've heard it called bump steer.' Are new or should I say newer Maximas the same way? I've got a 2K pAssat(50K) that drives like a dream while the Maxima(80K) can jump all over on the wrong roads.

And, was it worth new bushings and ball joints or is it inherent to the car?

Thx in advance.
