I just bought an Eclipse 7002 that has the monitor. It does not have an internal amp. I want to know if can hook it up to my bose speakers directly or do I have to hook an amp up to the headunit first and then to the speakers. I thought that each bose speaker has a amp connected to it.

yeah, you want to get new speakers

or possibly an adapter for those BOSE speakers... they do have a separate amp on each speaker, mounted directly on the speaker assembly. The problem is they run at some weird ohm/amp rating, and aren't directly compatible with other source units (deck/amplifier).

Call Crutchfield, they'll give you details about this.

BTW I installed a Sony deck and replaced all 6 speakers in my '99...

Re: yeah, you want to get new speakers

I have a 98 Max GLE with the BOSE system. Would it be possible for me to get a new Sony Head Unit, an amp for subs, and 2 subs, & not take out the BOSE speakers.
