UR UDP in process of install need some help

I got the main pully loosened, and I got the big serpentine belt loose and ready to come off. I am trying to loosen the pulley for the power stearing belt. I can't get that sucker to get loose. I have loosened bolts from under the car that I'm pretty sure are the ones that would loosen the power stearing belt. But its not moving Any help anyone can provide me with would be greaty appreciated. Car is jacked up and front pass tire wheel is off. I need help getting the power stearing belt loose/off

I think to loosen the power steering belt there is one bolt you need to turn. You have to turn it the opposite way. Righty/Loosy Lefty/Tighty

Looking at that, the second picture from the top (one in the top middle) is where I'm stuck. It does say to loosen 2 bolts, and I did loosen them both and the pulley still doesn't budge. Anyone have any suggestions short of using a jack hammer haha. I do see in the first picture from the top something about loosening a bolt I am going to try that right now. I will check back here in a few mins.

YES!! I got both belts off now. And I got the big bolt holding the pulley off also. But I can't seem to get the stock drive pulley off. It's on there pretty good. Anyone can give me some pointers on how to break it loose/off?

"sweet 10 chars" whats that mean?

Anyway, make sure you are pulling like perfectly even with each hand. Try different positions but always try to pull evenly. Thats what happen I think. I took a break came back with a clear head and pulled evenly and it came off fairly easy in like 3 seconds.

--------------------------------------------------------

On another note. I took it for a spin after I got the UR UDP on. I can deffinatly say I feel a pretty big difference with it floored in 1st gear. It really climbs to 6.5k fast as hell Shift to second and the tires let out a hell of a chirp, they normally do chirp second but this was the biggest loudest 'chirp' my car ever did. So that means the lightened/smaller pulley is letting more power get to the wheels. In 3rd + I don't really feel a difference.
When I crank on the A/C it doesn't even feel like its on That will deffinatly improve my gas milage!

All in all it took me 3.5 hours and 179$ for the pulley. And I'm sure the pulley will even pay for it self in time being I SHOULD be getting better gas milage with the a/c cranking. I was getting 24-26 mpg with the a/c on. (yea I keep track of my gas milage religiously) And I know without a/c I used to get 32-42, depending on my driving. (Yes I got 40+ a few times as long as I babied her .) So whatever performance gains it gives are just an added +. Check back here in a week or so and I will post my new MPG with the a/c on if anyones interested.

Ahhhh the power of nicotine. Everytime I run into a problem like that, I give up for about 5 mins, smoke a cig, have a drink of water, and then come back to it. Works everytime. The Newports haven't failed me yet.

Glad to hear this. Do you remember what size socket you used. I'm thinking of using the breaker bar if I can get it lifted really good. I'm just wondering b/c I don't have a full set of 3/4" sockets. And I didn't know putting an underdrive pulley helps with gas mileage. That might be my next mod just for saving gas.

If I remember correctly it was 19MM socket for the pulley bolt itself. You will also need a 13mm, 12mm and a 10mm for loosening the belts and such. If you need a walkthrough or some help let me know. It took me 3 and 1/2 hours to do myself for the first time, but I know if I had to do it again it would take me 30 min tops.

Holy crap 24-26mpg with ac on? I'm lucky to get 24 with no ac, do you constantly drive down hill or something? Thats nuts! Maybe my ks is bad, but I figure I would get much worse then 24mpg if that was the case...What other mods do you have? Well looking at your car it could be that its a stick, automatic sucks, it never knows what to do lol

Thanks smotz. Washington is not that far. Its close to one of my job sites in Pittstown, NJ. about and hour away. I changed my oil today and did a little investigating. It seems fairly easy to get the Driver belt off after you remove the plastic guards. But I was looking on how to loosen the bolt close to the power steering pump pulley and it is really tight. I'm thinking the only way of getting in there is to use a serpintine tool. My driver belt is cracked all along the ridges. Looks like chafing.
By the way I'm just changing the belts right now.

Actually I live on the top of a huge a$$ mountain. And when I got the 40+ mpg it was with mainly city driving not highway. Best I got on the highway was 36 iirc. Yes its 5 spd. I put a intake on when I got the car and thats all. Monday the new clutch+flywheel go on then all the mods in my sig are all up to date. Now I'm saving for the turbo + mevi. The 3" full exhaust is on its way so that will be on by next weekend hopefully. I get good milage city driving. Highway I go 85+ so it kinda kills my mpg with the rpms at 3200+ rpm for long stretches. Worste MPG I got was like 23.xx something. That was with the a/c on and hotdogging the car everywhere I went.

I check my milage by going at least 250 miles-1/2 tank or so, then fill up the tank and divide the gallons by the milage, then I reset the tripometor, rinse and repeat. I only use 93 octane and I prefer a certain mobile station in town by my house. I change my oil only with mobil 1 synthetic extreme performance + k&n oil filter every 5k <.
So far this car has treated me awesome and so I treat it the same. I got toyo proxy 4's on the stock 16" se rims. These tires btw are phenominal, I reccomend them HIGHLY.

I will add that I got my O2 sensors replaced when I got the car at 82k, I'm sure that is a big part of getting good mpg. The car now had 95k

Dude don't loosen the bolt that holds the power stearing pulley on. There are 3 bolts you have to mess with in order to get the power stearing pulley to give the belt slack in order to get it off. The first 2 are obvious, the 3rd is kinda trickey. its directly behind the pulley and behind the pump. it is like 1 inch under where the headers connect? I think its the headers I'm not sure but its where the exhaust goes into the engine. Its a big brass type bolt. Loosen that DON'T take it out like I did (took me 30 min to get it back on). Just unscrew it so the head of the bolt is out like 1 inch or so. Then it should be easy to move the pulley so you can get the belt off of it.

I said I would post a MPG update after the pulley was on. I have been getting 30+ with the a/c cranking nonstop. Pretty nice results I think. I am very happy with that.
