Off the line

the 1.8t is liek that because it still has a high compression ratio, meaning that it has a very well designed intercooler and turbo. and the roots is by far the most effective supercharger. but i dont think that this kid plans on putting a turbo or super on. i dont think he needs anything if he can take on a STi.
oh and NOS on an auto is a very dumb idea, especially for off the line, they have enough problems as it is.

Nice racing thread
And turbo isn't good off the line? Who's the idiot that said that? Anyone heard of brake boosting??? Cripes.
"Nos off the line is bad especially for an auto" Quick! Someone tell Jime he's been doing wrong all these years. I guess his crappy 12 sec time slips prove it.

I would love to see your maxima try to beat my Honda CRX

But if you have nothing useful to say, then get the hell out of here, we really could care less about your CRboX.

Im not even gonna bother reading the other half of these replies....I mean, i'm not super smart about everything, but I know when to keep my mouth shut about stuff I don't know anything about....
If the STI was even half racing you, you would've been destroyed. You didn't win anything accept a championship belt in the sport of newb...
On another note, welcome to the forums and don't be discouraged when you get flamed for a pretty stupid comment, we all were there at some point... well..... some....

lol...i still cant believe people will lie about their race stories and think they are not gonna get FLAMMED big time ... the max is a quick and good handling car; for its league .... if you wanna talk about the wrx STI, this thing keeps up with corvettes and its all wheel drive!.....how in the world do you figure you beat him or took him in a turn.....unfortunately, the sti would kill a maxima in E V E R Y single category

What other mods can you list that is effective getting a car off-line than a higher stall TC? I took the original post as off-line only, not anything that happens right after launching.
A Y-pipe doesn't improve your 60ft time. An Intake doesn't improve your 60ft time. A B-pipe doesn't improve your 60ft time. A UDP doesn't improve your 60ft time. Headers don't improve your 60ft time. None of those produce effective results from 0-25mph like a higher stall TC can. I guess the only other thing would be weight reduction, FI, gripper tires, or Nitrous.

nitrous is N02, when it gets to a certain temp. it breaks down so that there is two molecules: N2 and O2. more air is more power. that means that it is the same concept as turbo. so if its in the chamber it will become two compressable molecules. if its a "dry shot" or "wet shot" it is regulated by the ecu and will have the correct timing anyway.

i have VQ35 AUTO and i raced sti from 10 15mph rollin to a light...., no AWD launch for him, and i floored it maybe half sec before him, and he did the same right after, and STILL put like 2.5-3cars on me by 70mph or so
let alone a deadstop! i have the video to, i might post it, i might not =)

500 lbs of sheer NAWWWWSSS should do the trick! Or go buy a LS1 equipped car.
Also Garrick thanks for the laugh you just made my day on Maxima.org! Basic VQ killing a STi is like saying the ORG loves newbies.
There is a WRX around in my area that has a STi wing on it.

Dropping your 60ft times with a higher stall TC (about .1-.2 seconds) is more than 4 feet as you say, especially when the car is already traveling at 30mph by the first 60feet. Have you stepped into a track and actually know how crucial the first 60ft are to your 1/8 and 1/4mile time? Its not just the extra 500rpm at launch, its the extra TQ multiplication a higher stall TQ converter will provide at launch as well as being 500rpm higher in the powerband through 1st gear. I'm not doubting the Y-pipe Maxima will walk pass it, but the guy is asking for extra pep off the line when going against other vehicles because he can make up for it in shear power and catch up to them.
