I thought the burnouts and drifting looked pretty sweet

You mentioned KMART tires earlier .. so doing over 100 with 3 (guessing) people in the car with stock suspension/brakes/worse than stock tires???

I am not going to act like I dont open up the VQ because I do on a regular basis but what you guys did on the highway could have gotten VERY bad VERY fast.

Edit: No passenger airbag? WTF

Why did a "pro" driver have his airbags blown out??

Tires used for burnouts were not the same as the ones for the highway video. Airbags were blown before this person owned the car... they are there now.

You have obviously never been to the east coast, that speeding wasn't that bad. It wasn't safe, but it wasn't that bad either.

MaxxAddict, if you don't know how to burn out, or if you never have, you have never been to the track.
Burnout's serve a very distinct purpose....sometimes.

You're right. I've never been to the track. Am I not cool?

If I ever do go to the track, then yes, I will do a burnout. When I say I will never do a burnout, I think it's a given that I was implying non-track related burnouts.

What I have a prob with is burnouts for reasons OTHER than track purposes, especially concerning FWD cars such as maximas.

It's ok, I never did a burnout in my max either. I like tread on my tires. I'm sure it's fun and all, but I rather kill my tread in other ways. I like long distance speeding and high speed off ramps. The track seems gay to me. Most of our cars are quick, that's it. Nothing track worthy in my opinion. Granted there are a few that hold their own against any cars at the track, but that's a very small group of people here.

Yeah the speeding isnt that cool... its not top speed... as you can see theres too much traffic to go over 120... This was a long time ago too and i myself have seen that car do over 130. Again i just put everything i had of that maxima over the years into a movie.... even the plain speeding part. But im glad yall enjoy at least the drifts.

Guess ya never tried top speed on your car... Lets just say its ezer to get to 120+ with O/D off.

Wow all these posts and not one person has pointed out the fact that you can't drift in a maxima, only power slide.....= ]

So they (airbags) were in on the highway during the filming? It was dumb as hell.

Have you been to the track? Unless you are running race slicks that also were not featured in the video there is no need to burn out.

The only interesting highway footage would have been if he could have actually pegged 140+ but given the environment and lack of judgement I'm glad the auto Max didn't make it up to those speeds.

its all good man, dont worry about it, thats probably the best video i've seen on here in a loooong time, other videos just got people driving on the fcukin highway....im sure everyone here has almost gotten into an accident before, maybe not like that, but everyone makes mistakes and has done something that could have been worse, just be careful out there...and wut does fwd, rwd got to do with a burnout, a burnout is a burnout, if u saw a fwd srt4 doing a burnout u would probably say "that was hott man" just b/c its a "sportier" car, gimme a break, a maxima can do a burnout too, hell, my old mirage could do a burnout, who cares

why are you putting words in my mouth? I wasn't even implying that, but your diatribe against burnouts is confusing.

You probably don't want to start doing burnouts at the track, they tend to assume if you're at the track you know what you're doing. So there is usually people standing around near the box, and if you've never done a burnout, 1st time trying it at the track, you might hurt someone.

And so burnouts in RWD cars is ok? why the problem with FWD burnouts?

Yes, but I would suggest knowing how to do a burnout BEFORE putting on slicks and trying it.
Why the big rant against burnouts?
I take me car to the track (road mostly, but drag too) and also do auto-x, are you going to tell me how destroying my tires, transmission, brakes during any of those events is bad, and anything other than driving like a grandma is unacceptable?

If you guys were just *****ing at them for the highway scene it would make more sense. The drift didn't seem that dangerous, no one was around anyway.

Im surprised that this thread is almost 3 pages of mostly praise.
All of people saying nice drift.
Why is it cool do power slide in a residential area?
Why would you ride at hi speed with someone who is undeceive?
(traveling 100+ in an empty lane to serve closer to slower moving traffic )

I wish your tire blew out.

i guess none of you guys were infected by that d@mn worm . anyway burnouts are his choice if he wants to mess up his tranny and tires and what ever else on HIS car thats him and his money .the drifting was cool he could've chose a more isolated place but i guess he looked over the area 1st and made sure no one was around right right. now for the high speed raci... i can't even call it racing it was just going fast was the point of that ? any car can go 100mph so the point of that clip and not even racing was .

The street for the drifts was closed at the time, and we all made sure there was no1 to get hurt... Plus a friend lived right at that corner.

You're 20, my guess is that your friend is not much older. Assuming that your friend got his drivers license at 16, I estimate 4-5 years of driving under his belt. Unless he drives for a living or is a NYC Taxi driver , I would hardly concider that experienced.

I agree with Rick James Bi+ch. I don't care if you want to eat up your tires or damage you trany. Do it in a safe environment not in a residential area or on a public road. This way, if your friend crashes and burns he only kills his dumb@ss self, and maybe you.

I didnt say anything bad... people keep telling me to die... It's not my car, not my videos, im not driving, i just posted it... leave me alone. I posted the video for those who like to c what the max can do. The burnouts and drifts were in a controlled enviorment... maybe not the speeding part, but nothing happand so its all good. Now if you dont like what u see in the video... dont watch it... i didnt force u to watch it to begin with.

ah, i see what you are saying. yea that was a very unfortunate event. that is why reckless driving bothers me so much - theres way to many things that cant be controlled on the highway not to mention the innocent lives that are at stake.
