Just wondering if anyone here has a 97 5speed and is using an ecu from a 95 5speed. If so , any CELs?

I've got a '96 ts ecu in my 97 and I had the 0707 code. With the '95 ecu you MAY or MAY NOT get more codes, it depends on the car and what the ecu is tuned for. There are many different versions of the ecu and CEL's are hit or miss with them.

Thanks guys, Yep I also get the 0707 rear o2 sensor code which im trying to get rid of with an o2 simulator. I think Ill try the simulator now and get a 97 5speed ecu soon just to be shure since I got to pass smog in a couple months.

Here's a fix. I don't know if the O2 simulator will work - please inform us if it does but, the 95/96 use a 3 wire O2 sensor while the 97+ use a 4 wire O2 sensor. I think the pin out from the ECU is different and that's why I question if a simulator will do the trick since the signal wires may be going to the wrong ECU pin location.

I see, so you think if I simply just get a 97 ecu then the rear o2 code will simply go away? I might just do that then.

Nismo, assuming your rear O2 sensor and harness aren't bad, putting a 97 ECU back into the car will eliminate the code. I don't know if your 95 ECU is re-programmed but the only way to have an upgraded ECU is to use the 95/96 model year which usually causes the "rear heated O2 sensor" CEL in 97+ cars. The link in my previous thread really explains it if you haven't checked it out yet.
