Release Gas Pressure before Changing Fuel Filter??!!

I had my fuel filter cheaply changed by a mechanic some days ago and he did not release gas pressure before doing it.Afterwards, I get real bad gas milage about 18.5 for combination.

It happens for me for 2 full tanks of gas. Then I pull off the fuel pump fuse and start car to release pressure; now i get 25.06 gas milage for combination which has significantly increased.
So you guys remember release gas pressure before changing fuel filter.
Cheers

releasing fuel pressure in the lines before the fuel filter install is a must, or else be sprayed in the face with pressurized gas, when i changed mine out to the Z32 fuel filter, i thought i took out all the pressure in the fuel line, but some pressure remained, so i got sprayed in the face.

It can't possibly have any effect at all on gas mileage or engine performance being the fuel must be under pressure in order for your engine to run. Releasing the system pressure only makes changing the fuel filter a little less messy.

It's supposed to be under pressure!

prolly got bad gas mileage because there was a leak and half of the gas was being sprayed out of the lines lol.

Oh that's not the end of it, I heard that if you LEAVE it unplugged you'll never need to put gas in your car again!
