Fuel Filter Fitment

I bought a 300ZX (Z32) fuel filter for my car, but the shop that was supposed to install it for me is trying to tell me that the bracket that holds it in place "will not hold it." Not sure if that was personal opinion or what, but how are you guys securing it in place? I don't have the tools to get the old one off, so that's why I have to have a shop do it, and if they won't do it for me...I've wasted some money on a filter.

The difference is it's about twice as large. I'm not talking about replacing a regular filter here, we're talking about a 300ZX filter.

It lasts twice as long and costs the same amount of money.

dude, tell them to go shoot themselves in the head. I put my 300zx fuel filter in the stock brakets and its sitting there perfectly. Of course the brakets will be a lil more extended than usual but the fuel filter cant move then....

Either tell the shop to do it, because you know it fits, or do it yourself. All it takes is time - you don't even need a metric specific tool set to do this, except for removing the intake (easier to access FF if you have ABS and remove the intake up to the TB).
If you're not installing the FF because it is the "extra special z32 FF", you're not installing it for the WRONG reason. Installing a Z32 FF is just as easy as doing the regular one.

Ok guys, it's not that I can't do it or that I find it too hard, I just didn't think I had the right tools to do it. That's all. Period. They sent the fuel filter back (I bought it from them) and they ordered me a normal OEM Max filter. So it's not like I'm wasting money or anything (thank god) but I'm not going to have the filter I wanted.

Funny you say that. The mechanic that's right down the street, who I used to take my car to before I came to the Org, DOES drive a non turbo 300zx.
He used to always mention how fast his car was. Used to believe him til I started reading up on Nissans. Those non turbos are "quick" at best. The maxima is "quick" also.

Edit: Oh yea, back to the original issue at hand. The 300zx filter fits fine. The bracket just stretches a bit more.

Actually he's not a Nissan mechanic, and I ordered the filter from the same shop and he knew about it. He's just an idiot and said the filter wouldn't fit, sent mine back, and ordered a Maxima one all without my permission. Oh well...screw it.

P.S. he drives a Ford Ranger
