Greetings all,

Just took my 1997 SE to get inspected.

I have a cracked driver side tail light (outer). The previous owner cleared out the lens, so replacing with a factory model with amber on one side will look pretty retarded. I guess I could buy a replacement and try to clear the amber off-- not sure what all would be involved to do that.

Anyway, I thought this might be a good opportunity to get some cool new rear tail lights... as in, replace both rears.

Out on eBay, I found these:

My car is black, so I thought these might look ok. After emailing the seller, he said they would not work on my 97 Max SE. Not sure why, he lists them as "97-98-99".

Is there a difference between 97 GXE and SE or something? Not sure why these wouldn't work...

Anyway, does anyone know of a reasonably priced replacement for my tail lights that would fit right on without any special modification?

BlackCat has a set of gun metal Altezza Gen IIs for sale in the Canadian classifieds section. They have hardly been used. He switched back to his red clears. PM him if you're interested. He's a reasonable person.

 

^^^^ those would look much better than the cheap *** ebay tails. Look in the for sale section also.

 

I have a brand new set of clear tails with one of em cracked, can't remember which one tho. I'll chekc and let u know

Also, any idea why the tails advertised on ebay say they would work on a 97 max, then have him tell me they wouldn't

Are the SE tails different than GXE or something?

Besides the forsale forum here, what other 3rd party places sell reputable nice replacements?

BlackCat's car is a 97SE. That's what the Gen II Altezzas came off. Take a look at the pictures in his classified ad and see if you like them on a black car.

i see people bash the carbon fiber but when i saw all of thenm in person carbon look by far the best on my rosewood maxima, i dont liek cf but it looks nasty on my max, the gen2 are NASTY! i get postive comments all the time, completley changes your max's look in the dark
