A sound while breaking

Hi, guys!
I just bought a 1995 GXE Maxima. Everything is great so far, but when I break (on a medium to high speed), I started hearing a pretty loud, thin noise (from breaks, I guess). The car breaks normally. On the dealership where I bought it, they said they put new breaks. Could this noise be just because the breaks are new (and not original), and might dissapear later on? Should I just wait for a while, before I invest again in just recently bought car?

Thanks a lot to everyone.
Regards,

Eugene.

Any noise from the brakes isn't good. My 95 GLE has 95k miles and stops without so much as a squeak. If your dealer put cheap metallic pads on the front, that could be part of your problem. I'd suggest that you go and get a new set of good pads and change 'em again yourself. While you're at it, check the rotors for any damage - if something's been installed wrong from the previous change you could be getting something rubbing on them. Pads are relatively cheap and very easy to swap - do it soon before damage (or more damage) is done. Good luck.

Re: to Doug

Thank you, Doug! I don't think I would be able to tell by myself for sure, whether the pads' position is appropriate. But I will monitor the situation for a week or two, and do something about that. By the way, I called my dealership again, and they confirmed, that they installed new breaks there, and they (breaks) "just need time to adjust" (I'd wish that was true, but I doubt so...).

Eugene.
