Post count means nothing. A high post count could mean I have more questions than you.

I would definitely say something is wrong with the MEVI...definitely not opening up where it should.

Exactly, pointless questions that can easily be answered by reading the Faq's.

Sorry bijangxe, I had to throw in my two cents.

Nice vid btw.

Nice vid. Looks like you guys were on 285.

When that mevi is working and starts signing, you'll need to rename the new vid file.

With the MEVI not working, both cars are more or less the same (JWT restores some midrange loss of the MEVI). Even the peak number differences from the dyno's can be attributed to pull-to-pull variation. The extra person is a big handicap.

Ok, lets put this to another test. I will race bijan with my JWT ECU & MEVI combo. I am pretty sure my MEVI is working right. Heck I will even carry the extra person.

OK

This is Bruce. I need to clarify a few things. The dyno posted above was where Bijan manually opened the MEVI for me. When he didn't open it I was close to stock #'s. Either way my #'s are less than my previous dyno when I did NOT have the JWT ECU or the MEVI.

but you can see where the JWT ECU gave me 6 WHP and 11 WTQ over stock ECU.

I appreciate Bijan's help and patience that night, he really helped me assess how slow my car is right now. And in case yall haven't seen his other vids, his car is fast.

My MEVI did NOT open a single time we raced. I hope there will be a fair rematch for comparison purposes.

Brian when you figure it out let us know cuz i am interested in getting a vi with ecu upgrade, and i would like to know what to avoid to not have to go through these problems, i hope you figure it out soon, i know it must be annoying you huh?

the only thing about this thread that is kind of annoying is that bijan made it seem like there was absolutely nothing wrong with your car in his first post other than saying that mevi/jwt are not giving enough power. Obviously from those dynos bijan knows that there is obviously something wrong. so stop riding your your high horse bijan, cuz you will never beat a fully working vi with ecu upgrade and you know it.

His MEVI problem is because he has a bad checkvalve. They are like $.79 at napa. It's nothing new, tons of people have had the napa checkvalve fail on them and just buy another.

It's just a difference in tone when it opens vs when it's not. When I had mine, I could never tell the point at which it opened (some people say they could actually hear it open, I never was able to) but if I ran it out to redline, by the time I was at 6500 or so I could tell whether or not it had opened or not. It's pretty subtle to my ears actually but if you know what you are listening for you can hear it.

Engine screams once the MEVI kicks in. Sound is not as pronounced as say a VTEC civic w/ intake but if u listen closely the tone will get 1/2 octave higher.

When my Harlan RPM swtich was failing and on its last leg of life, it would switch on and off repeatedly once past 5k. So my valves were opening and closing and I can definetly hear the pitch changing. Ordered the Summit switch and the max is a highway screamer once again.

Since the MEVI was installed on my car I'd say it has worked 50% of the time. The problems are very annoying. When I first got the MEVI I bought it without any real knowledge of how it worked, this was my first mistake of many. It's a pretty big mod so I would recommend you read everything you can about it and buy the ECU upgrade first.

Of course you should buy the Summit RPM switch, I'd say it works at least 9 out of ten times.
