Which NGK spark plugs to get?

I have a 97 maxima with about 80k miles. I went to Advance auto parts and they sell NGK G-power Platinum plug for $3 a piece and NGK Iridium IX Platinum Plug for $7 a piece. My engine shows no misfire codes but I guess it's time to change my spark plugs anyway. I guess I will buy NGK Iridium IX Plugs.

Any ideas?

Neither. Either get NGK V-power copper plugs, or NGK Laser platinums. Either of those will work fine. Anything else, you're on your own and are unproven.

Would be nice if there are stickies for:

1. Spark plugs

2. Struts

3. Springs

I know that all these are clearly explained in http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php but looks like majority of the questioners don't know abt it. I think it's a good idea to have stickies on the above with a link to the maxmods site that'll cut the no. of new threads posted by half

1995-2001 Maxima and 1992-1994 Maxima SE

* OEM NGK type PFR5G-11 Platinum Spark Plugs
o Description: This model is very highly recommended. They are the type supplied from the dealer. These spark plugs will last 60k miles.

* NGK type BKR5E-11 Copper Spark Plugs
o Description: Very similar to the Platinum plugs above, but cheaper and supposedly provides a colder and more powerful spark. Also will only last 30k miles.

* NGK type BKR6E-11 Copper Spark Plugs
o Description: The exact same plug as above except 1 step colder, only useful in Nitrous or Boosted applications. Colder plugs will provide less horsepower, but will reduce the chance for detonation and will let you run higher levels of boost to compensate. Also will only last 30k miles.

* NGK type BKR7E-11 Copper Spark Plugs
o Description: The exact same plug as above except 1 step colder, only useful in Nitrous or Boosted applications. Colder plugs will provide less horsepower, but will reduce the chance for detonation and will let you run higher levels of boost to compensate. Also will only last 30k miles.

* NGK type BKR5EIX-11 Iridium Spark Plugs
o Description: This is a Iridium type spark plug. It tends to last longer than copper and is useful for boosted and nitrous applications with the right heat range.

If you are running a stock car (other than exhaust/intake mods), you should use either of these:

* OEM NGK type PFR5G-11 Platinum Spark Plugs
o Description: This model is very highly recommended. They are the type supplied from the dealer. These spark plugs will last 60k miles.

* NGK type BKR5E-11 Copper Spark Plugs
o Description: Very similar to the Platinum plugs above, but cheaper and supposedly provides a colder and more powerful spark. Also will only last 30k miles.

The coppers run 2 bucks a piece, the platinums about 8 bucks... take your pick. (The coppers last 30k, plats 60k).

If you're looking for spark plugs that will last you 60K miles, go w/ the OEM platinum plugs. If you don't mind changing the plugs every 30K, go w/ the Copper
