well i always run premium in the max, but i had my fiance try premium after doing regular gas and she won't go back, there was a pickup in accelleration, and she got better gas mileage in the city. There was a post just after gas skyrocket that said lower grade gas is better for highway and higher grade is good for city driving...

You will notice better performance with the premium, but it will take a couple of tanks for your computer to adjust, so don't expect to feel it as soon as you drive out of the gas station. I have only run premium in mine and thats all I ever would because I drive it pretty hard.

Go with the synthetic, it will last longer for sure, but just remember not to many oil filters will last as long as synthetic oil will.
