Voltage and RPM gauge problems.

My voltage sometimes drops to 12, but it supposed to be at 14 all the time while the engine is on. Though, it still runs when the voltage is 12.
Is it the sign of dying alternator? can be that battery heads need some cleaning (they don't look clean now)?
I went to Autozone to check my alternator, but my acted well then, 14v, so they concluded that alternator is fine.

BTW, another question.
My RPM gauge is not stable when it is between 2k and 3k. Last time when I checked for error code I had defective speed sensor code. Does my RPM jumps because of defective speed sensor or is it some other problem?

Thanks.
