Trouble programming my remote transmitter for 96
#1
REmote programing trouble, Daniel Martin need your help!
I am having trouble programming my remote transmitter for my 96 MAxima. I followed the procedures, I stick the key in 6 times within 10seconds and the flasher blinks, but the part that gets screwed up is that when I hit the button on the transmitter, the flasher doesn't blink the second time. I was able to use the same remote on another friends 96 SE so the remote is working fine. Have you come across anything like this? I check the antenna attached to the glass fro mthe BCM and it looks ok. I can't really think of anything else. FYI...this car never came with a remote so I had to buy my own, as far as I know, it never had a remote. I do know for sure that it has an alarm and the alarms works as it should , I've been able to test the alarm by setting it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. it's a 96 MAxima GLE.

Might want to double check to make sure that your car has (along with the alarm) key less entry. You are going to have to remove the carpet and plastic covering the lock in your trunk. Can be done in a few minutes with a screwdriver.
Once you can see the lock (stick your head and the trunk and bend over - it's right there.) Look for a kind of orange-brown plastic plug looking thing. If it's attached to something - you have keyless entry - if not - you don't.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will check that out. I always thought that keyles and alarm come together, but I guess not. I know for sure I have the rear window antenna that attached to the alarm BCM in tbe trunk.

Also make sure that the key is in the ignition and turned to the ACC position, just before turning the car on, and that the doors are locked. . . I know the first time I did this, I forgot the key had to be in the ACC position and nothing happened.
