Lighting

Ok, im thinking about getting a HID kit for my headlights and foglights. From what I have read on the org, is that HID kit is illegal in my car if it didnt come with standard HID on it already, btw I live in Chicago. Anyway, what do you think I should do ? and which is easier ? right now I have the stock setup for headlights and foglights. should I get the 9004 kit for my headlights and H3 for the foglights and call it a day ? or convert my setup to a 9007 as in the 4th gen stickies, and then buy a 9007 HID kit ? I am new to the lighting part of the maxima and the HID in general also.
Any useful info is appreciated.
Thanks

I wish I had the $$$ to drop on projectors, but I think it's 9007 for me.

sorry to *****, but is there a thread or an FAQ with all the lighting options? cuz i don't even know if a retrofit refers to only projectors, or any HID's?

If you're gonna stick a kit in your car then it makes no sense to do a 9007 conversion. Just get a 9004 kit. Downside is you will lose your high beams and will glare oncoming traffic.

Another option is to retro HID projectors into you housing. Cost alittle bit more but eliminate glare an you'll have a razor sharp cut off.

from what ive read the 9007 are better than the 9004, so I naturally assumed that if I would do that then get the 9007 HID kit, the lighting would be better than if I would simply get the 9004 HID kit ?

Let me simplify things for ya. If you have money to spend get a HID kit. If you want better lighting on a budget convert your regular bulbs to 9007. Dave has them and they are definately brighter. Check out his car.

If you are putting HID on your car there is no point on coverting your harness to 9007 and installing HID. It is a waste of money. There are HID kits for the 9004 harness, the output is all the same. Our stock headlight casings were not designed to handle the HID bulbs, therefore causing major glare. Projectors are usually recommended to focus the glare.

Hope all this helped..........

The choice is yours.....
