i feel dumb.. but turn signals?

Soo this is the first time i've ever had to replace a turn signal bulb on my maxima. My signals on the left side just started going double time so i went to autozone and got both the bulbs for the back and front turn signals. I put both the new ones in and to my chagrin it still blinks fast. I checked the turn sigals fuse and it was fine, swapped in another one just to check, same deal.

So this is a really stupid question but i'm just wondering what else might affect/cause that... turn signals are not my specialty.

The wiring might be loose. Jiggle the wiring near the bulb connector a bit and see if that helps. If it does, set it in place with some tape. That's what I did when my turn signal started working intermittently.

The bulb doesn't actually supply the flashing. The flash module does. It is located under the driver side dash near the center console. You may need to remove the lower plastic trim.

Clean/inspect bulb connector. Check black wire for good continuity to ground. See if other wire (green and black i think) is receiving good voltage when flashing. If no, might have a parasite somewhere.

A parasite, suggesting that something is leeching or hampering power to the bulbs.

I would suggest just fiddling with the bulbs and make sure they are tight and jiggle the wires like stated above. I've never heard of a flasher going bad. My 93 Max SE, I never once in the 7 years I owned it had to change ANY bulbs except for headlights. Hmmmmm 3rd Gen, WHAT A CAR!!!

I've replaced them on other cars, and the sure way to know they are bad is if your lights don't flash or flash too quickly. Most other cars the flasher module is blue and on the fuse panel under the dash. I've never seen one like the max. I had to look in my haynes manual to make sure that the autozone part was correct.

But for $20 its a part that you can try & return if it doesn't help.
