Light grinding sound

The problem started about a month ago, and I'm not sure what is wrong. Ok, so basically I get this light "grinding" type of sound in the engine (sounds like it anyways) when i accelerate aggressively. But when i'm not accelerating aggressively, the sound is not there...and even still other times it's not there even when I do accelerate aggressively. So, sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not there. But typically when i accl. aggr.

It's really getting to me now, and I'm not sure what I could have done or how to diagnose what the problem is, before something REALLy goes wrong. So yeah, it's a light grinding sound and when it does happen, it's usually when the car is cold - but not limited to when the car is cold.

It sounds like something is...loose in the engine. What are some common problems that are within the description?

The only thing i can think of is get a tranny flush. But, that's just a completely useless guess heh.

Anyways, any input would be great...

eventually is correct. i got a grinding noise too. sounds like metal rubbing metal. had my friend under the hood when it happened. said it might be my the thing attached to the tension pulley. dunno too much about parts. thats why i have mechanic friends. more info later once i figure it out.

Your grinding sounds like it could be the same thing I have wrong with mine. Have your mechanic friends check out your pullies. With the belts off, spin all of the belt pullies. Probalbly a bad bearing somewhere. My AC bearing is bad and produces the same grinding sound you speak of. Sounds alot worse than it really is, until it locks up that is.
