brakes issue

last nite i went to NYC, im standing in traffic, all of a sudden i hear a moaning sound that vibratesmy seat, does it usually udner 25mph, when i engage my brakes slowly, when i push hard on them it doesnt do it. So i thought maybe i dont got nomore pads, i looked today i still got lotta pad left. it was doing it all thru out the drivng in the city, tho when the car rests and the brakes get cold they dont do it until the heat up. Is it jsus the material?? also when i took my 2 front tires of in the park postion (auto) r the pads suppost to be touching the rotors??

yea i have the same problem on both of the maximas..but the other is worse. i m still trying to figure out..i thinking there's something wrong with the rotors. it makes the noise when you slowly press on the pedal right?

1. The pads should be touching the rotor
2. The groaning is not uncommon once the brakes have warmed up and depends mainly on the pad compound. What sorts of pads are on the car?

I as well have just started to hear crunching sound, like abs turning on. But when I am braking from like 50-20 or higher or lower there is NO sound of that, ONLY when I am going from like 5mph to a stop.Sounds like there is rocks in there or something? I just got Hawk HPS for the fronts like under a month ago. Any thoughts?

I have raybestos quietstop all around... it also makes the same noise when i hit potholes or when the road is "rocky"... i thought it might have something to do with the suspesion, but its def. the brakes

Have you checked the brake caliper pins, mine became rusted and needed to be cleaned and re-greased so the caliper would move freely and not just stick causing a moan to the brakes every now and then. Especially with all this rain recently in the northeast if they arent maintained rust forms real easily.

I second this...unbolt the calipers from the torque members and regrease everythingggggg. May be overkill but I regrease everything everytime I change my oil

they fixed them selves, they were heat glazed from my hard drving, all i had to do was go easy on them and let them fix themselves out.

The caliper slides might be corroded or caliper piston might be sticking. When i put front brakes on the slides were completely froze and i had the beat them out and buff all the rust/junk off them and i put neverseize on them and put them back in.
