Help! maxima sometimes stalls when I come to a stop

Hi when I am by a red light, I am noticing that my 99 max. 70k miles will just power off and all the indicator lights in the dash turn on. I then have to put it in Park and start the engine again.

Does any one know what could be wrong. it happened 3 times today.

p.s. I just started running the heat in the car - any connection?
Any help is appreciated

Dirty IACV perhaps.

Is all the other maintenance up to date?

well, my car did that too. eventually it would refuse to start. it also would get so bad as to stall even when driving. through turns this got scary cuz no more power steering... if i were you i'd have someone check ur knock sensor. Also, have you been using anything but premium gas??? or switching from reg to prem? i know some people switch to regular due to high prices, but DEF keep with premium. you run the risk of detonation if you run regular.

its unlikely, but check your battery and alternator. your battery might not have the ability to hold a charge. got a new battery, voila

check your mass airflow sensor (maf). i tried a bunch of other stuff, and then took it to the dealer, and they fixed it. cost a little bit, but at least it runs now. mine would stall at red lights, while driving sometimes too.

I had the same problem for a day. Mine was my fault but I checked my codes and forgot to turn the screw all the back to the counterclockwise position. Had no Idea what was going on. Thing would idle around 400rpm and then basically surge and die. Oh well probally doesnt help, but it will cause the talked about idle problems.

Get your battery checked to determine if it holds a charge.

check to make sure your ecu isn't in diagnostics mode, you can check this by turning the diagnostics **** counter clock wise til it stops, if that doesnt work, rotate it right hold it for 5 secs, then rotate it back left
