Off the top of your head, tranny fluid???

Does anyone know off the top of their head how much manual tranny fluid I need to buy. I'm replacing the neutral safety switch and would like to buy enough. How do you know when you have enough in there?

i'm guessing you have an auto, 4 quarts should do it. This is off the top of my head, thats about how much came out when I poured all of it out for my swap.

5 qts so u can do 4.5-4.75 and it should come out assuming you have manual. if so then it will leak out of the fill hole and you know its full. Make sure you get GL4 gear oil, most mainstream auto shops like autozone ect only carry GL5 normally.

One can check how much fluid they have in there tranny by looking undernieth, right?! Isn't there a drain plug that allows us to fill it back up there?! Just curious...

You stick your finger into the "check level" hole.

It is a circle with a .5 inch square, you use just a .5 inch ratched to remove it.

Yes there is a drain plug.

a Haynes or Chilton or even owners manual will have all this good stuff.

You will need to get 5 Qts but it's slightly less. 4.75 sounds right. I bought five to change my output shaft gasket but haven't gotten around to it.
