I have this annoying creaking noise like the noise you get stepping on an old floor when turning the steering wheel while going up a small incline or bump. I was told it could possibly be the upper strut mount bearings , but am skeptical because i dont understand how a piece of plastic can cause that noise.

I also inspected the rubber boot that goes on the bottom of the spring and it is fine. Are there any other possibilities?

The car is a 1998 GXE 5spd with 115k. Any help appreciated.

 

Misc bushings can cause this too ... But most likely the answer is in the post I posted in reference to your other thread.
