Keyless Entry Module in Trunk Question

It's been said that there is a double pulse that the factory alarm receiver (in the trunk near the antenna) sends to the BCM to lock or unlock various things. I assumed double pulse to ground is what they meant since it is constantly held at 12v. I hooked up an oscilliscope to it to verify this, but to my dismay, it seemed to drop maybe .2 volts from 12.4 to 12 or 12.2. It was actually a very dirty and non consistent value. Basically i'm working on something with the alarm that needed pulses to ground to work. Can't get into details, but does anyone know the chain of events that happens when I hit lock or unlock from the receiver in the trunk? LIke what does IT send to the car after it receives the signal from my remote. I need to know if its a frequency change, signal drop etc. that it is using as a trigger for the car to acknowledge the need for a command.

well its not like theres 1 wire going to the BCM, theres a harness going to everything else, so IMHO it( the module) might be wired to each individual system...

I've tested all of the wires that lead out of the module by the power antenna, and the only one that changes state (powers up or down) after a keyfob button is pressed is the orange wire that activates the relay that flashes the lights & my alarm beep mod.

I've been trying to find away to make my headlights & back-up lights come on when I unlock the doors (like new Tahoes) but its not done with the controller in the trunk. I'm pretty sure what we need is under the stereo, I just need to stop being lazy & try the wires.

I did the same thing, now all my wires are cut up back there. I have no idea why there is so many wires, but they don't seem to do anything. I think one changed when I tried the trunk and another for the doors.

Why not try to tap into the illuminated entry of the interior lights and wire them up to the headlamps and reverse lights. It might work.

If I do that, it will turn on the headlights when I open the doors too.

I need to find the output from the BCM that activates a relay to turn on the dome light. I will use this to power a new relay that will power the headlights & back-up lights.

Once I figure it out I will make a write-up and post it with my alarm beep mod.

That sounds like it might work. I'm sure there is a controller that turns the interior lights on when the doors are unlocked but before they open, otherwise how do they turn themselves off after like 30 seconds. I'll look in the FSM and see where the controller is and what pin it might be.

For some reason I think they might do something. I don't think that Nissan just decided to string a buch of extra wires thru the car to confuse you.

I don't know. I cut all of them but 2 and everything worked like normal. I drove the car around for 2 days with them cut and no problems at all. They also didn't chance voltage when I pressed any of the buttons on my keyless entry remote. :gotme
