Alternator's last days?
Alternator's last days?
I accidentaly drove through a huge puddle last week, when there was all of that rain down here in Florida. So basicaly I flooded my engine bay and pulled over. Opened the hood and everything was fizzin...i expected that....but also herd a whining noise comming from the alternator side. Drove real slow and two days later the noise was still there and now im worried about it. Its deffinately the alternator, a little gas and i hear it louder, otherwise the car seems to be just fine.

You have two choices.
1) Replace the alternator
2) Put new bearings in the alternator
If you don't feel comfortable pulling the alty apart for a mini rebuild, refer to selection #1.
EDIT: It wasn't the water that caused the issue. Their built to withstand a hose down and the bearings are sealed units. Actually everything stock in your engine compartment is built to withstand a hose down.
