Ok this is very weird.

So i'm trying to take off the clearence lights in my 99 to do the brighter clearance mod, or whatever its called. Im doing everything like i did on my 98 when i did the mod. Basically just unscrew the screw on top kinda connecting to the headlight a little bit, and the clearence light should just slide off, right? wrong. This SOB doesnt want to come off after i unscrew the screw on top, there seems to be something holding it on the bottom. I tried wiggling it around for an hour without any results. I can't see if there is any screw holding it on or not, so thats why i come to the org for help. My question is: how the hell do i take off the clearance lights in a 99? Maybe 99's are different from 95-98's? I'm sure this is an easy question for 99 owners.

There is a pin & socket holding it in place. If you get a flash light and look down you'll see it. You can get a long screwdriver down onto the pin and pry it till it pops.

Oh, you want the " Melted Corner Lens Mod ". All I hear is nightmares about this mod. I'd suggest to not do it. Just my .02.

Had this mod for 2 years, never melted or deform in any way. Dunno where you here that.

After the you un do the srew, take a screw driver and pry at the bottom of the len, theres a pin and socket holding it in place like njmaxseltd said.

i have had this mod for almost a year. as long as you don't go with any high wattage ricetastic bulbs, you should be fine.

Perhaps there is a way to take out the bulb without taking out the whole clearance light?

it should just pull out with a little wiggling and force. it's just a ball-and-socket joint. but a pretty tight one. as long as you know what you're looking for, you should be able to get it.

Oh yeah, I dont think the corner mod will melt the plastic/glass. What melts it is if you put it in the oven to open it up to do the AE mod to it(ask me how i know).

I had one hell of a time getting that thing out too, like everyone else says it's just a socket holding it in place. The screwdriver method mentioned above is what finally helped me.

try prying it out enough that u can see the "rod" on the ball which is connected to the corner light and spray some wd-40 in there, wiggle it back and forth and vuala!
I have a 99 too, and I thought I was gunna rip off the whole front end of the car. I was tugging and tugging at that piece of **** for at least 30 min, untill my fingers hurt.lol. The whole car was pulled forward then whiped back as it was in Park.(yeah, thats some tugging)lol

it shouldn't be that hard. my 99 was rusted everywhere... even the ball socket part of the corner light. just stick a flathead in between as far as u can, and twist it. should give out half of the ball out of the socket. then just pull. but yea, I wouldn't do the mod. my corners are cracked and fogged up. just leave it be.

or you can break off the ball thingy like me. Right now my lights are held on only with the top screw.

I've had this mod done for at least one year, One light is cracked but not because of the mod. I think it depends on environmental issues as well as the bulb you use. Mine is just stock bulbs.

E-brake'll prevent that.

You don't need to remove the corner lens to change (or mod) the light bulb. Simply reach behind and under the corner lens housing to find the harness and bulb socket. Twist the bulb socket (righty tighty, lefty loosy) to remove it from the housing. The socket with the light bulb will lower from the housing. Change or (mod) the bulb. Put the socket back in and twist, ensuring a tight fit. Small hands help, but a man can get his hands in with little problem. This method should only takethe time of one comercial break and will not risk damaging your lights.
By the way, OEM bulbs will not damage your lenses, even with the mod. Removing it incorrectly will.
