Shoot guys, your sayin you played the game? Idk if this counts as winning or losing but i turned into a gas station as my car died, makin a 90 degree turn is rough w/o power steering!

(Oh btw...never saw a gas light) must be burnt out?? lol

 

so u guys played that game and didnt have anygas in ur trunk? u just waited to run out of gas? i would never take that chance in houston, lol i dont ever wanna get caught pushing my max. u all might call it pride but i call it love, when i played that game ai had a bottle of gas in my trunk, my entire car was filled with the smell of gas, lol.

 

although ive also been curious about that little light, i never let my tank get that low...i dont know if its true or not, but i have heard that on most import cars, it is bad for the fuel pump to run dry...ive heard that the pump will burn out and then you have to replace it...

also, if your light is not comming on, and assuming the bulb is good, you can almost be certain that the problem is in the floater assembly near your fuel pump...you can take it out (access cover under your rear seat) and inspect it or replace it...really easy job.

 

my light hasnt turned on ever since the car was passed down to me and i am the only one that usually takes it to an empty tank

and dang i thought i had won that game a long time ago but you guys owned me in how many gallons you filled back up

 

i played the game but i didnt know someone had to win, i thought it was just for fun to see if your lights work. lol u guys funny........ so tell me, how do u win?

 

This may be a common occurance in the max because I play the game to and I have never seen it come on. It got as low as the E mark and it flickered.

'95-'97, the light is a small circle located near E. '98-'99 the light is located on the left strip of warning lights

 

u serious? lol i need to check for that circle

 

i played this game last night and lost. haha. the car was bucking if it went above 3k rpm and eventually when i came to a stop light the car died. i didnt even attempt to start it again because i assumed empty meant empty. well i tried my best to push it up into a parking lot and put it in park, called my dad, and then i started it and drove down to the next light where it died again. im sure if i could have kept it at 1000 rpm i could have made it across the street to the gas station. but at that point, i knew i was better off just taking my emergency gas tank that i keep in the back of my trunk (because i play this game all the time) and just getting a couple gallons rather than trying to drive over there. so i started it one more time (i kept trying to start it in drive since thats where it died adn i was pushign it in drive) but i was actually surprised that it kept starting up.
so what i'm sayin is, im pretty sure you can tell if your car is low on gas by how it acts at higher rpms and what not.
btw i got 330 miles on that tank and that was with alot of heavy foot work on the pedal. yay.

 

and oh yeah, i dont fill my tank up completely so i guess i was playing a different game.
i didnt realize it was to see how much you could fill up at once, damn. i was playing the "when should i stop risking it and go get some gas" game.

 

Mine has to be quite low for it to come on. haha and it usually sputters before that

 

what part of houston did u run out of gas?

 

i never would have thought that thing was a light,lol i always thought that the light was somewhere among the other lights like check engine light and o/d, i seriously thought it was a light liek those ones somewhere around them. now i know i am about to let my fuel run low again to see if it comes on.

 

one more thing, does anyone know if u can adjust the sensor in the tank to your specifications, liek say if you want it to come on when 2 gallons are left or when 3 gallons are left. can you do it or is there a mod for that?

 

Mine doesn't come on anymore either. It is a sensor in the tank with the fuel pump. I'm not going to worry about it till I have to change the fuel pump.

 

my light doesnt work either....hahaha i ran my gas tank till empty and when i filled my gas tank the other day i filled up at 16.5 without topping off......
