Has anyone installed a Daytime Driving Light module/relay on a 4th gen Maxima? Napa sells a module (Echlin AHR-102, Daytime Running Lamp Kit - $39.95) for 12 volt DC electrical systems; wondering if it will work on my vehicle. The dealer quotes a price of $176.00 for one. Thanks for your help.

Damn and I thought I was lazy,

just turn them on yourself,but if you must have them I am sure there is a way to do it for free,by rewiring it yourself, maybe somebody else has tried it before.

That is some crazy stuff! Granted, I do think Saturn DRL's are bright, but it's better than no DRL's at all. How can anyone possibly say that a car is MORE visible with the headlights off?? No matter how bright those 75w DRL's on Saturns are, the car is still more visible with the lights on than off.

Other companies that use DRL's, like Toyota don't have bright DRL's. What's wrong with DRL's in that case? I don't even think the newer Saturns have the bright DRL's anymore.

I wish my Maxima had DRL's. I think it is an excellent safety feature. As for adding a DRL module, why not just turn on the headlights instead? I think spending $40 more than pays for whatever costs burned out bulbs cost. I think I read somewhere that DRL's use up like an extra 3 gallons of gas per year. That's it.

Before this becomes an anti-DRL thread, here's a link to a page with studies showing both pro and con arguments;

http://www.ibiblio.org/rdu/DRLs/studies.htm

It should be noted that the anti-DRL site posted earlier is incorrect saying that no studies have been done on the effectiveness of DRL's - quite the contrary seems to be true.

In my own opinion, DRL's are extremely useful, especially in sunrise / sunset conditions. Two lights in the distance tell me there's definitely a car there, as opposed to the car blending into the background.
