clutch problem

im having problems with my ACT clutch that is less than a year old...

when i press in the clutch i have to press it in all the way and also i have to push very hard. i used to not have this problem and i am unsure of what is causing this. i hhave adjusted the pedal all the way and it worked fine for a few days but now i still have to push the pedal all the way in to shift gears. anyone know what could be causing this????

You're supposed to push the clutch all the way in to shift gears...

Check your fluid level. If it's low, fill it up and bleed the hydraulic system.

what im saying is that i have to push the clutch all the way to the floor before it engages, and ive never heard of any car that does that. the fluid level is fine.

you mean before it disengages?
I have mine set to engage low so i have to push my clutch in all the way.
but... you're supposed to push the pedal all the way in!
I've heard that shifting without pushing the clutch in puts a lot of stress on the TOB

Can low tranny fluid level cause rougher shifting? I have about 3.8 qts in the tranny right now.

BTW He put a SS clutch line and bled the clutch line before. I am not positive it was a perfect bleed since he has probably had a shop do it and done it himself since then.

Both of us need to check our tranny fluid level. My shifting has gotten kind of rough lately.

4.5 is for the manual tranny. I would think less gear oil and old fluid could lead to rougher shifts.

Well ACT clutches are known to have a hard pedal feel, but you said you used to not have the problem..

Maybe the slave cylinder is starting to get seized

Well, bleed it again anyway. Shouldn't take too long. Just get a buddy to help you.

"If you do not get all of the air out of the system, you clutch will disengage with the clutch pedal closer to the floor. If you think your clutch is "different" than it is, and you must continue bleeding." -Motorvate.ca
