E-brake light on

Anyone experience this. My E-brake light sometimes stays on after I turn on the car. Sometimes it doesn't, but lately it's been more on than off. And yes, my e-brake is released.

Check your brake fluid level. You might be a little low.

If people would just post constructive comments....

Dubbya & f550maranello2,

Thanks. I thought it was a sensor, but it makes sense for Nissan to turn this light on for low brake fluid.

a3gus,

Yes I did solve it. It was low on brake fluid as Dubbya pointed out. It was also in the owner's manual as njmaxseltd was so kind to point out.

Yes, low brake fluid is a sign of 1. Leak in the brake system/ loss of pressure, or 2. Worn brake pads.

As your pads wear down, the pistons in the calipers displaces the space that used to be occupied by the pads, and so more brake fluid is in the caliper and thus not in the reservoir, and then the brake light comes on from the low fluid. You should have your brake pads checked the first chance you get.

Dont think that will cause it. There is an electrical connection in the ebrake itsself that triggers the light.
