flashing airbag light
#5
The first time mine started flashing was in the high 40's (disgraceful, huh?). But since airbags are covered 5/60, got the side module on the pass. side replaced free. About 3 years ago it started to flash again, so I figure it's gotta be the left. Right now the lamp is not flashing, nobody can predict what's gonna happen when I reset the computer, but I've done it at least 30+ months. If I so much as move the recline on the seat, it'll start blinking again. Why bother spending $800 on a side airbag that I've never and will never use?? The car is only worth $3100 to begin with (98 SE 5-spd every option). Anyway, as I understand it, when your lamp is flashing steadily, the system is disabled, or at least the bag at fault is disabled. Big whoop. If you worry about that "for safety's sake" then you worry that your 2k3 CR-V has only 2 airbags while the 2k5 came with 6. Such thinking would conclude the 2k3 is an unsafe vehicle.....but I digress.
Just sit in the driver's seat with the door open, turn the key to on, and press the door lamp switch 6 times fast. That puts it into diag mode. Either drive around with it like that and it goes away by itself (mine does), or, you repeat 3 times. That puts it into diag mode, takes it out, and back in. Sometimes that keeps it off for months.

I found this in the stickies and it worked for me. I did have to repeat the process a couple of times before it worked.
"How to reset SRS(air bag) light
Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button located low on the B pillar, a button which is pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door Switch (DDS).
Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF. Close the driver's door. Start the engine.
If the airbag warning lamp is still on (or still flashing), there is a fault in the Supplemental Restraint System which must be diagnosed and repaired. This is a job for your local friendly Nissan dealer."

That worked
Thanks! Repeated twice, light is out. If it comes on again I will take to Nissan as the goal is to avoid being killed, not just to make the light go away. But, not giving $$$ to the dealer just for a sensor glitch is a good thing!
