Engine issue!!!! help!
someone on a neon board im on posted this question there hoping some nissan people might see it. anyways, i thought i would post it here and see if you guys have any ideas. i said it was prolly a blown maf sensor, but i could be wrong.
"Me and my friend installed his new intake on today and now his car seems really sluggish. His car is a 1996 Nissan Maxima and its blowing out nasty black exhaust fumes. Before his car idled like crap in nuetral, park, reverse and drive, now its like crap in drive and reverse..What could the problem be? Also we just had to charge the battery becuase the car wouldnt start."
thanks guys

If you guys were cranking a lot then fianlly got it started, that black smoke was a lot of fuel getting burnt off.
If its really sluggish like that, there must be codes. Local auto stores should be able to check them free.
Check Maf with Mutli-meter, as well as cam sensor, and both crank sensors.
checking sparks could tell a lot.

Is the Check Engine light on? If so, on the top of this page there are instructions for how to pull trouble codes from the ECU.
If it's not on, I'd suspect the MAF sensor is going bad.
