If its not doing anything when you turn the key, its the ignition switch. About a $30 nissan part or any auto parts store for $25-$40...Very easy to install

Sounds like an ignition switch to me, common problem on 4th gen's.

I am having the same problem. When I turn the key nothing happens, but I can hear sort of a clicking sound. It started about a month ago and I took it to a mechanic and they said it was the battery and the cables that attach to the battery. It started fine for about 3 weeks and then it went back to not doing anything when you turn the key. When I called the mechanic they said that your starter probably went out. Is it really the ignition switch?

took the starter to autozone and the fuken idiots said it was ok so we put it back on and bought a new battery and still nothing
then i took the starter to murrays because the car wouldnt start still and they told me it was the starter and changed and now it runs perfect

i had a similar problem on my trans am. ended up being the ignition switch. I hope these starters are as good as the 3rd gen VE those things were bulletproof
