What is the possibility?

They're coming out with a new law to forbid cell phone use at gas stations when in fact it has never caused a fire at a gas station and has ben tested several times. Seat belts obviously save lives there's nothing to debate about that.

Speaking of banning: They should ban FEMALES talking on their cell phones while driving! This one brod doing the same thing in her SUV almost ran me off the road while she was changing lanes and not looking and paying attention. I threw an empty glass bottle out the window and at her SUV. Sorry a tad off-topic! Just had to rant.

Yea i dont understand why females need to go back into the car while filling up...? Its not like you have to wait a long time. Its like not even 5 minutes. Cant just stand there...?

Also I NEVER have turned off my car while filling up. Whether I pump it or the gas attendant does. Very rarely the attendant would tell me to turn it off then I would but most do not.
And I have done this for as long as I can remember and have had no problems. And I dont need to worry about my car being stolen if I keep engine running since I have auto start and just leave car on and take my keys out (Clifford 3.5 alarm).

Question....I heard that turning car off and turning it back on, uses up more gas compared to just leaving it on while filling up since it only takes like 2 minutes to fill up. Is this true?

Off the main topic, but it was mentioned...
from the federal government regarding cell phones & pumping gas...

http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/wirelessgas.html

Now I will not have a second thought about talking on my phone while fueling.

Leaving the motor running for more than a few seconds will use more gas then at startup, on a warm motor of course.
If the notion that idling uses less fuel than starting ever had any validity, it was during the days of high-displacement pushrod V8's with carburators. Modern OHC engines with fuel injection? Far more efficient and probably worth shutting off. However, starter motors have a limited life...

I remember hearing that this was true about starting the car, but then I road in a hybrid Honda Civic, and while its in econ mode, the engine stops everytime the vehicle comes to a complete stop. So obviously restarting the engine doesn't use more gas.

Then everyone wonders why they get EVAP codes and they can't clear them or when people don't understand the concept of how your whole evap system works. Its presurized for a lot of reasons, it purges when the system needs to. when your car is running and your pumping gas your not using the system to its abilty. It has to be sealed and has to work with atmospheric pressures. I can keep on going with this, simple shut the ****er off, don't risk getting a CEL and don't risk messing up any of the evap system. Don't be lazy!

There are alot of mixed answers but to this day I have always left my car on and put gas in and have never gotten any codes or any probelms.

What you don't realize is that your EVAP relies on engine vacuum to purge the system of the vapors.

SMX95 is correct that it will throw a CEL on newer Maximas. My dad throws this code on his '02 all of the time when he fuels up with the car on. The Evap system has more parts then just the purge valve.

sometimes i leave it running when im trying to get a certain amount of gas in the tank, with the motor running the needle will move as the gas fills up in the tank.

I know what i'm talking about. 1995 maximas use an EVAP purge system that relies completely on engine vacuum. 1996 and up use a electric purge volume control valve. He has a 1995.

Besides, i never said anything about a CEL. I was just responding to his assertion that all maximas rely on atmospheric pressure to purge the system.

There is no reason to continue this thread, people are entitled to their opinions, and at this point nobody will change their mind. The same things have been repeated way too many times already. Just my .02
