Tokico Illumina shocks which springs to use-Senior Member in need of help please.

I finally got the chance to take care of my baby. I bought a 2001 BMW 740i and man it is a nightmare. Anyway's, I currently have Tokico Illumina adjustable in the rear and I think I have eibach in the rare as springs. The 350Z 17inch rims I have in the back are rubbing the wheel well. I do not know how much drop I have but I want some springs NOT too low and not too high to look like a horse. I guess its a common question here but I am really need some piece of advice to sort this issue.

I want to change my rear springs my Tokico Illumina adjustable struts are fairly new. Any advice would help. Thank you.-Sal

Eibachs are a VERY stiff spring. You want Htech's, H&R's, or Progress for a softer spring. I have Progress springs on my car right now and some Illuminas in my room that are waiting to be installed. This will be a VERY smooth setup.

Eibachs aren't stiff for normal driving. They're stiff when going over bumps and dips, but that's expected. I actually think the ride is soft on eibach.

Best bet w/Tok struts are Tok springs, of course.

^^ this guys a post *****, maybe needs a vaca.

eibachs are not that low in the rear. they are a 1.3" drop. there is maybe 1 other spring thats higher, maxspeed. h&r's are either the same or lower and progress are definetly lower. but you may no really have eibachs.

im working on a special lower but soft suspension. basically drop the car but using (some type of) OEM springs.

Call up Eibach or Ground Control. They've got a whole range of springs to match whatever type of driving or ride quality you want.

I just checked you were right, I do have actually H & R springs. I guess I should really consider Maxspeed.

I really dont care about racing it or anything, I just want some springs which wont hit the wheel well one four people are sitting in the car.

Having said that, you reckon that Maxspeed would be ok?

you may or may not rub with maxspeeds. its hard to say since you arent running the stock size wheel. you may be better off with a booster to lift the rear somewhat.

h&r springs are really nice and id hate to see you switch to maxspeeds only to fint out you still rub or the ride is too harsh.
