sticking gas pedal (i.e. sticking throttle plate)
sticking gas pedal (i.e. sticking throttle plate)
Hello guys, it's good to see everything is running well here.
I have done sufficient searching on the subject, but have not found a solution.
Problem: EVERY time at idle, the gas pedal "sticks" before getting free and the effect it has is over-revving (say, to 2-3k) every time, preventing smooth launching. So the sequence goes, 1) come to a stop, 2) when ready to accelerate, excessive force must be applied to the pedal to make it move, 3) results in excess revving, jerky and abrupt take-off.
I've figured out that it's the throttle body butterfly plate that is sticking. I have already cleaning out the throttle body entirely, thinking that would fix the problem but it has not.
When I open the throttle body plate manually (by the little lever which connects to the throttle cable assembly), it sticks in a similar fashion to what is described above. Therefore, the problem is the throttle body itself.
Would anyone have a solution to this? I appreciate any help. thanks.

Get a Pathfinder TB
Or a used A32 unit from www.car-part.com.
Take apart existing unit, and clean all moving parts thoroughly.

my mom had this exact problem once on her van. Turned out that the idiot mechanic she had taken it to had adjust the Stop on the Throttle body and the butterfly was actually turning too far inside the housing and getting stuck. Check the stop point on yours
Oh, I forgot to mention, yes, I have alrady checked the stop bolt that is part of the TB.
Thanks for the suggestions, I already ordered a part on eBay for just $22 + shipping, hopefully that will the do the trick. In the meantime, I will lubricate that spring mechanism on the TB.

If anyone else could help I would appreciate it. I've lubricated all of the parts on the throttle body that rotate, but when the car gets warm, the sticking gas pedal on idle still happens.
there's been a delay on the "new" used A32 TB....so yeah, in the meantime I've been trying to get the throttle body to run smoothly.
