I am new to the site, so first I wanted to say what's up to everyone and the site rocks. Second, I was looking for some advice. I just finished installing a FSTB from Courtesy Nissan, and I am looking to tighten up the rest of the suspension. Can anyone recommend brands for a RSTB and a rear sway bar. I was looking at Stillen and Addco (i think) for rear sway bars. Any suggestions or recommendations for better performance or ease of installation would be appreciated.

Thanks, 1st97SE

Welcome

Welcome to the site first of all. As for your question, stillen and addco are the only RSBs that i know of for the max... i have the stillen one on order, but it hasnt arrived yet. from what i've gathered on here, dont bother with the RSTB... it doesnt make much of a difference at all... nothing like the FSTB and the sway bar do.

i have a rstb and i felt only a minimal amount of difference i n cornering... i am looking to get a used rear sway bar...

rsb
addco costs less and uses bushings...
stillen is adjustable and bolts on...

they are both functionally the same.

people have said they eventually had to change out the bushings in the addco...

and welcome to the board....

just my 2 cents

FYI

I just ordered a FSTB from Courtesy 5 mins ago. Will I notice an improvement with a stock suspension?

Most of the body roll disappears with the FSTB but having the rear sway bar will tighten up the slight rear body lean.

I feel the rear strut tower bar is definitely worth it. I got mine from Courtesy Nissan a couple of years ago for ~$75. I felt a big difference, albeit not as big a difference as the fstb, but it really tied down the back end. Kind of reinforcing the rear sway bar actions of planting the rear...

i noticed only a minor difference... i whave some good on ramps to test this on and i did it with the rstb on and then with it off.....

minimal stability... i want the rsb ... that will be a major differnce... just as the fstb did..

Re: FYI

The FSTB makes an incredible difference. I was amazed and recommend this as a first mod to any new Maxima owner. Took me 20 minutes, piece of cake! Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the input, I just ordered the Courtesy Nissan RSTB and I am going to order the Stillen rear sway bar next week. That makes sense about having to change the Addco bushings...not something I want to worry about, so I'm going with the Stillen.

Thanks again!

Re: Install TONIGHT

Let me know how it goes, I should get mine in the mail monday or tuesday. I already have the trunk ready because i just did my taillights, so it looks like it will only take 20 minutes or so. I would love to see the pics.

Thanks

I don't know about that, my mechanic told me that out of 3 times me putting the car in the shop and him either removing it or leaving it in, I don't be able to tell the difference when the front strut bar is there or not

he said that the only thing those are useful for is for rally's when you do jumps, it helps then

I think I'm going to take his offer and do that

o yeah, he said that if the front strut bar could potentially be useful, the rear one is COMPLETLY USELESS

and I trust him, the reason for that is he raced cars on and off road and he knows about this stuff so I believe what he says

Re: Welcome

Ditto. Definitely do the RSB 1st. With the great improvement it will bring to your rear end, you will probably not even opt for the RSTB as well. That's exactly what happened to me. 1st FSTB, then RSB. Cool.
