RSB or Remote start?

I have money to to do one of these upgrades and im torn. I live in NJ where winters and summers get pretty brutal, so having a remote starter is just one of those things I have been craving for quite some time. On the other hand, Im also dying to get a rear sway bar, because lets face it, stock the maxima is no pro when it comes to cornering.

What would you guys do in my situation?
Also, how significantly does the sway bar affect cornering and handling. Is it one of those things that you just cant be without, or a goodie thats nice to have. IDK anyone who has a maxima with a sway bar, which im sure would make my decision a bit easier.

Thanks

I'd get the remote start first.

unless you plan on running away from cops or takings turns at 80mph for no apparent reason id do the remote start. i like the extra 15 mins it gives me to sleep in the morning.

I love my rear sway bar, I don't think I would ever remove it.

Are you saying that the RSB provides little to no improvements at low speeds?
I can barely make turns going 25, so anything would be a plus.

Can someone offer me some info on the addco sway bar. I am sure it has been discussed a thousand times so all im asking for is a link to a previous post, thanks

Don't even bother with the rsb. I'm selling mine, don't want it anymore.

dude if u can barely make turns at 25 then u need more than just a RSB. And if it is that bad u will barely tell the difference. If I were u id just get the remote start until ur ready to replace ur struts and springs.

Do u have rims? Other than the factory rims. If u do then I would suggest gettin different tires as well.

I have a RSB, tokico blues, and factory springs (I think - havent done the suspension since I bought the car, the blues came with it.) I had the Yokohama AVS100's at first (225-50-16) but they didnt have much tread. Regardless i could still take a normal left turn off a light at 40 no problem. I put some Toyo proxes on there (225-50-16) and the ride/noise/traction increased 10 fold.

So save up ya birthday money! Haha

RSB dont do much that you really notice or feel.
Definitely get the remote start. Get on the GD that Don is offering now.
I got the Clifford 3.5 from him and love it. And plus Don is in NJ so its perfect for you.

Obviously, I CAN do a turn going 40, but my head would smash through the window in the process. The car is a boat, it doesnt feel like its meant to conrner aggressively. I hear that RSBs help with body roll and cornering so Im interested in getting one. Half the people say that the RSB is way worth the money, others say its not, Im at a complete loss and back to step one

That I can't tell you since it was on the car when I bought it.

But I have problems keeping traction going around turns at 30 when the road wet and the speed limit for the turn is 20. I can feel the car starting to slide. I can't decide whether it my fstb, rsb, my tires(potenzas) or stock suspension.

Most likely the tires, if I was rich I would put money on it. How is the handling during dry weather?
I had toyo tires on my old car and they were amazing on dry pavement, but when it started to rain or snow the car would slide around turns like crazy. I made sure to drive carefully on wet pavement. Dont forget we have heavy cars, thats a lot of weight being thrown around, the car is bound to slide, especially on bad tires that dont grip the road.

Gettin a RSB may help around turns, and you may/may not feel it, but if you want to go around a turn like a Lotus Elise than you need more modification than a RSB. Stick to gettin the remote start until you can get a full suspension package.

Remote Start!

Have you thought of a way to bypass the clutch to actually use your remote start? From your sig it looks like you have 5spd, so im just wondering because many people forget about the clutch. Its not as easy as automatic.

unless your going to try cornering better in the winter time then the remote start would be a smarter choice.

You just have to bypass the switch behind the clutch with an acorn nut, then wire in the neutral safety switch so it won't start in gear.

As far as suspension goes, Im just slapping on an RSB and FSB and calling it a day. I dont have the time or money to start screwing with the suspension, I just want to make it a little bit better and call it a day. I have pretty nice all season tires on it, and I figure Im just going to paint the SE rims. Rims are too much money and low profile tires are a hassle.

I decided to go with the RSB, btw. I will tell you guys what I think once everything is installed. After the RSB Ill need to start looking for a decent HU so I can have my IDMAX(droool) and amp put back in. Miss my bass

I've got a remote starter, but have only used it about 3 times in the last 3 years (came with the car) and 2 of those were by accident. And yes, it can get really cold here, but everything heats up faster when you're driving, as opposed to idling in your driveway. If I were you, I'd skip the remote and invest in a block heater, which is way better investment and will help extend the life of your maxima, as it will reduce the extra wear on startups during freakin' cold days.
