just did BRAKES, need ideas on matching pads w/ brembo blanks !

I have a dlimena. Currently I've installed GENERIC premium rotors and using PBR/AXISS Metal masters. They have been squeeling from time to time, unpredictable. I don't know if it's the rears.

Anyhow, I've bed them in and I've been noticing that from time to time the right side has been acting wierd and I've been getting this sound from it. While installing that side, the metal prong on the pad was bent. I had to use pliers to adjust it to get it in. Could it be that because of the inprecise/tinker with it; lead to the brakes not being able to float back during/after braking situations?

Anyhow, I wanted to know the main difference between METAL MASTERS and CERAMICS in terms of matching them with brembo blanks. Do they squeek? or have great stopping power? etc. etc.

I've lubed the pins and lubed behind the pads and in between shims. I was told that between shims I should've used anti-squeek instead of grease. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I ran Hawk HPS pads for a while with my Powerslot rotors. I liked the combination. I have Quietstop ceramics now. The Quietstops produce less dust and are quieter. I would sometimes get some squeal with my Hawk pads. I will be switching to the Hawks again though .

I would go with wagner thermo quiet pads. I have had a set on my last 4 cars and I love them. Hardly any dust and no noise. My roommate has a set of hawk hp+ on his s14 and he hates them. Mad brake dust, low speed squeal, and his brembos are being chewed to pieces. I also don't think you have to worry about one pad being more compatiable than another with brembo blanks. A rotor is a rotor until you get into high performance drilled and slotted,or two piece.

To the guy that said they have lifetime warrantys. Thats not a good thing. The pads last you, but they are so hard that they eat through your rotors decently quick. Besides that, i have Raybestos quiet stops and they have been very good. The rotors did warp on me at first (i heard it can happen to some people and it did with me) and then resurfaced and haven't had a problem since. Good luck

I like Raybestos QS pad. Its quiet, gives a firm pedal, and has a very nice linear modulation feel. Much better than Nissan OEM pad. I haven't used other high performance pads so I don't know if they are even better.

I have the Raybestos QS pads too, and haven't had one single complaint about them.

Yeah you don't want to put grease on the back of the pads, get a bottle of the red stuff at autozone, it's almost like a glue. Also, make sure you lube the slide pins with disc brake grease, it is made to withstand the high temps.

I have to disagree with the comment that you have to use kevlar or ceramic, some high performance pads have the drawback of not stopping good at all until they are hot, for racing purposes that's cool, but when you're driving down the highway for 15 minutes without using your brakes and the car in front of you slams his brakes........

I also went with drilled/slotted brembo and nissan pads and was very pleased.

I just bought Power Slot Cryo treated rotors all around. I also purchased Hawk HPS pads to match these. I haven't put these in but from what I've read on the Net this is the best combo, before moving to a big brake kit.
