Battery Question

I was wondering how much power can u draw away from your battery before it really effects the performace and the life of the battery. Right now i have a Rockford 1000bd amp, and six 9' neon lights, and a radar dector all hooked up. I wanted to maybe hook up some more lights, maybe a stobe or something, but i dont want to mess up my battery life or performance. Thank you

I would ask this question in the stereo forum. Good luck.

check the amperage draw at the battery. it matters more on the alternator than the battery. the alternator has to generate enough power to recharge the battery, which has been drained due to the load. you need to turn everything on when testing it. then check the alternator to see the output. its all math from there.

i have 3 neons and together are not even a 1 amp load.

OK, so what is high or low amp load?

What he means is that, to test if your battery is taking a strain, turn on ALL of your accessories and test the load. The battery's main function is to start the car and hold memory for certain accessories while the car is off. Once the car is started, the alternator takes over. If your running all the accessories in your car at the same time, and the voltage tends to drop or can't handle the load, then you need to find out what is causing the strain and relieve it from the load.
