Does replacing clutch or replacing flywheel impact tranny fluid level?

I am going to have to replace my clutch in a few months and may need to replace my flywheel at the same time. Upon doing that, will I need to top-up my tranny fluid or even replace it? If so, I am going to hold off on my fluid change now (I recently acquired Amsoil MTG 75w90 and I do not want to have to change it agian in a few months).

Thanks,

i would recommend a complete drain and fill since u have to yank the tranny anyway and its heavy with fluid in it...i know amsoil is expensive but u could get away with just a top off cause u will lose some after pulling axles and waht not

When you pull off the axle it might leak out of there so I suggest just holding off.

When you pull the axles it WILL pour out... you need to complete drain the tranny prior to removal.

I forgot to drain the trans fluid once when pulling the trans for some retarded reason and got a faceful of synchromesh when I popped the axle out. Oops.

So when they replaced my driveshaft/axle on the passenger side, they lost some of my tranny fluid?

absolutely, you probably lose about 1/3 of the fluid if you pull the axle without draining the fluid, maybe half of it.

when you say "they" I assume you mean your mechanic? Yes they lost some of your tranny fluid but they deffinately topped it off, probably with some cheapo stuff they had laying around.

When my buddy and I did the tranny job, we drained the MT90 into a clean plan and reused it later. The fluid is only 2 months old when my clutch started slipping badly.

Yup my mechanic (I wasn't prepared to change it during the winter months here). Damn I wonder how the OEM fluid they are using mixed with my synthetic stuff
