I think theres 4 bolts holding it down to the flexplate on the engine...

Theres a small plate or something like that somewhere that you have to remove, it will allow you to remove those 4 bolts, you have to turn the crank to get access to them...

Im sure someone will shine on on this..

Its in teh FSM if you have it.. in AT removal.

Is the converter still on the engine or in the trans?

If its on the engine then like sOber says you have to remove the 4 bolts holding it to the flexplate one at a time by turning the crank. The best way to remove the trans is with the converter still attached so you don't lose all the fluid. You do that by removing those bolts before separating the engine and trans.

all you need to do is turn it clockwise and GENTLY pull it out with TWO hands.... when you put it back in.. same deal put in and rotate it clockwise untill you hear it click 3 or 4 times...

That depends on whether its still on the engine or trans. He hasn't said yet. If its on the trans, yes it just pulls right off.

But he didn't say where the converter was. It could easily be on the engine or the trans.

Chances are its on the engine because he said the tranny was removed... If it was as easy as pull off the transmission im sure he woulda figured it out.. The remove plate and remove 4 bolts off flexplate is the tricky part, so makes sense for it to be still mounted onto the engine...

You have to be under the car to get to the access panel. The access panel is secured by 2 bolts (according to the FSM on AT-191 -- I haven't had to do the job on a Maxima yet, but I've done automatic transmissions on other cars).
Once the access panel is off you spin the crankshaft manually with a breaker bar and remove the bolts one by one until all of them are removed, at that point you unbolt from the engine and remove the transmission from the car -- assuming you have all of the electronics disconnected and the axles removed obviously, you don't want to get hung up or break anything.

2 10 mm bolts hold a little black plate on the engine this is the access plate everyone is telling you about pull that off turn the crank until you see 12 mm bolt number one repeat this three more times keep your hand on the TC or it will hit the floor and possible damage it and definetly make a huge mess
