Am i knocking??

Hey guys, for the past week or so when i am at WOT the car sometimes sounds and feels like its knocking, but im not sure.....for example i am flooring it in 2nd gear and all of a sudden i hear one loud click come from the engine bay and the car hesistates like i hit some kind of limiter, and other times i will floor it and the car will consistantly hesistate while acelerating much slower than usual....i thought it might be a missfire(coil packs) but im pretty sure its knock....If this sounds like knocking to you, what should i change first?? Something casuing me to run to lean?? spark plugs, Maf(giving wrong reading)....BTW i only use premium chevron gas...

have you done the self diagnostic by turning the screw underneath you steering column, that will give you any ghost codes...that is how I found my knock sensor code!

it depends, the symptoms that you are decribing could be a number of things but there is a possibilty that it could be the knock sensor, you can take it to autozone if you'd like and they will scan your codes for you....and yes ghost codes should show up......wow I answered someone else's question.....it's about damn time I learned something around here.....lol

the ks is a ghost code, so unless you get it scanned it is not going to show up on your cel

I checked it with my code scanner, there are none.....And i really doubt its the ks....and a bad knock sensor would not cause the motor to knock....a knock sensor senses for knock and tells the ecu to retard the timing until thje knocking stops...

I just replaced my knowck sensor and its a lot better now.. No more struggling bellow 4k rpm.. The car feels lighter and less restrained. I had to get my wife to unscrew/screw it in... Thank god for small hands. I paid $74 shipped from ebay new and its the exact same maker of the one i took out which Nissan charges like $163! I cant imagine ever taking off the manifold(s) to change something so small.

Since there are no codes, go to the next step, check sparks, test coil packs,

i think im gonna try the bypass for the KS

when someone says disconnect the sensor...do you mean...

unplug the sub harness from the KS itself, then shove a resistor in where the sub harness normally connects to the KS?...

is that right? or is there another part of the connector towrads the front of the engine that is a lot easier to access that i am going to be putting the resistor in?
