Bose Stereo System

Ok, this is not in the stickies. But can I install a Bose Headunit from a newer 4th gen into my 95? Ive noticed in the pictures that the 4th gens have about 2 or 3 different styles of the Bose system. Is it possible? My tape deck doesnt work all that well thats why Im asking. To replace all the speakers with the install of an aftermarket headunit would be some bucks, so a temporary solution would have to do for now. Help me out if you can.

Can someone post pictures of the different ones? I already know what the 95-96 one looks like.

Yeah, I know... just trying to find a short cut. Cardomain would take forever though. Most are aftermarket. Ill quit being lazy now. Thanks for the help though.

To make the Bose conversion, you will need the speakers and Bose amplifiers also. There is an Amp enable line from the HU and a relay. This relay is in the right side kick panel. All in the factory manual but take some time to find everything.

The '98 and after HUs has a Mute line input for other stuff. '97 and early HUs need one more relay to do Mute.

Not quite sure about the speaker differences without looking at them, but you will need the Amps for sure. These are mounted close to the speakers.

if your 95 has BOSE then its a direct plug and play between all the 4thies... only thing diff is that they have diff is the CD CHANGER..

I just replaced my 95 HU with one from a '99 today. absolutely no problems, direct plug and play, easy swap. The screws holding in the HU can be a lil tough to break, you might have to get creative. I put on a workglove which allowed me to turn harder without scraping up my hand. made it much easier to loosen the screws.

I did it this way;

1. Put it on the bench.
2. With a screw driver in place, tap the screw driver with a hammer while turning. Impact driver should work the same.

The '98 and '99 HU has a direct Mute input which is nice. I put in a relay to Mute the Bose Amps for a Bluetooth Handsfree unit not knowing the Mute input was on the HU.

Best is when you get a 6 cd changer bose unit from a 99 pathy or xterra (I think those are the models with them).
