Mismatched Struts/Springs

Gotta a bit of a dellima with my 2nd max which I picked up last fall '05 at an auction.

I've noticed something strange about the suspension. At purchase the car was already lowered with a set of Eibach springs but recently after taking apart the front struts I found a pair of plain monroe sensatrac struts in there.

Overall the ride is smooth up to semi-rough roads but all hell breaks loose on any hard bumps. I've checked LCA, bushings, balljoint, sway bar links and everything looks and feels tight. I'm wondering if the really rough response on hard surfaces is coming from mismatch between Monroes and the aftermarket springs? I know just enough about suspension to get myself hurt so any help is appreciated.

Also noticed the RH spring has a small bit rubbing between the top rings. The front springs are even on both sides, are not sagging and ride height is consistant on all four corners so at this point I'm hoping it's just the struts I need to replace.

monroe are like oem so driving on aftermarket springs puts too much stress on the strut/shock and they blow

harder most of the time..

It feels like the front struts are only working half of the time. I'm guessing that because of the lower load rating on my eibach springs the monroe shocks are traveling more than they are designed to.. or maybe I don't know wth i'm talking about..

part of it is the stiff rates of eibachs too...but Monrow are OEM replacement and are not up th the task of a lowered car......this means the strut is being compressed more all the time
