If a 1998 or 1999 Maxima has the SRS light flashing, and self-diagnosis indicates either Side Module LH [OPEN] (code DA) or Side Module RH [OPEN] (code 7A), install a SRS side air bag module of the type indicated in the Parts Information section of thisbulletin to resolve this incident. This new side air bag module (with long harness) replaces both the air bag module and the seat sub-harness. See this bulletin for further details.
Part number K8EHM-7L002 Module A
any idea were i can get this module with out spending $400 at Nissan stealerships
they quoted me 394.94 for the module with the longer harness

Well, mine came about fairly sudden... I was driving home from Dallas (was at a wedding), and I got home, everything was fine. I wake up the next morning to go to work and the light starts flashing. It really makes me wonder because it just started out of nowhere. I figured maybe a connection came loose or something *hope* lol. How exactly do you run the self diagnostic? I read somewhere in the FAQs to open the door with the ignition off, press the door ajar button 5 times within 7 seconds, and turn the ignition on. It didn't do anything though, am I missing something obvious?
thanks,

Anyone with this problem: I urge you to call corporate to *****. This is NOT a wear item--it is a faulty safety feature. Tell them you have been loyal to nissan, love your car otherwise, have gotten friends and family to buy nissan, yadda yadda.
Same thing happened to my dad '98. I urged him to call Nissan corporate. They opened a case and next thing he knows, corporate is calling him back saying they will pay the dealer all costs for goodwill or some such. It is worth a shot. You do need to see the dealer and have them diagnose the problem to have any shot though and you know they will want $100 just to diagnose the problem (applicable to repair though).
