Broken Antenna Mast

Mine has broken..a few questions:

1. Does pep boys sell a replacement mast and does it work for my car?

2. If not, I have an I30..will a maxima mast fit as well?

Any other advice is appreciated as well...

You'll be suprised since this is one part that costs LESS than you think it will!

ok, scratch, I'll just wait till Monday and buy OEM. I'm just so sad about my broken antenna, I want to fix it right away.

These day, with the car being 10 years old and 170k, I become sad very quickly if something goes wrong.

OK, Dealer wants 40$, so no, I think it costs more than I expected for a metal pole.

Can anyone vouch for this..?

As you said, it's piece of metal - nothing more. The one you show in Ebay will be fine.

I bought mine from the dealer only because I didn't realize a part like that would be sold by anyone. It really is just a metal pole with a plastic tooth line in the middle to push up and pull down the mast (if yours is automatic). Make sure you get a tool(can't remember what it's called) to remove the silver ring at the base (on the outside of the car). I would just rent the tool or buy it, use it, and then return it.

Just like with the car speakers you've got all kinds of crap to remove before you get to the motor. I only had to get to the motor because part of the plastic tooth thing I mentioned was suck in the motor.

I ordered this mast from ebay, it's some 6 to 8 inches longer than stock. I was surprised...

nissan sells then for about 40 bucks. i have one that i bought about 3 months ago. (parking garage incident where the antenna bent forward. i bent it back then when i was on the highway the mast broke free and was dangling) anyways, i have sirius satelite readio and never replaced my stock antenna. i use my satellite as my radio now. if you want, ill sell it to you for 30 bucks.
email me at infuser72@netscape.net if ur interested.

its not very hard to replace the stock mast. the only tool you need is one that unscrews the antenna from the rubber part thats on the rear fender. if you dont have the tool, a flat head screw driver works.

No, No, No. Don't buy an Ebay mast that will break and doesn't have the correct mast tip. Buy an OEM from everythingnissan.com. $31.92 shipped and be done with it. I bought one. installed it and haven't had any problems since. Just make sure the motor is pulled down inside the trunk to the lowest point (there is a metal clip that holds the assembly in place) and then tighten the two 10mm bolts and the outside nut to keep water out of the quater panel.

If you have problems removing the old mast (ie: stuck, rusted), pm me.

Thanks. I'm going to go with OEM.

I don't even use my antenna, I like listening to my CD player, maybe sooner or later I'm going to work on the AUX input and just connect a MP3 player or something and listen to that.

Either way no antenna for me. Plus I disconnected the motor to it cause it never went down all the way.
