The Maxima's gas mileage is okay for a V-6, but there are a lot of other cars out there that have better mileage, mostly 4cyl cars.

i want to buy one ) Mainly cuz i want a 5 speed w/ sunroof ( but i think my next car will be more along the lines of the g35 concept...just looks to sexy and sleek...imagine that car...black...black rims...chrome lip..tinted windows..blue hid's...i wouldnt even rice it out with blue led's in a luxury car..

I mean you gotta figure a couple things...

The max's interior room and design is nice and damn near flawless...4door sedan with v-6 power ( throw in a 3.5 boosted setup and your beating type-r's .. ) but how often DO you wheel your friends around and such. Not me much. I want to enter the world of power w/ class and sleek....only important people to me until i get married will be me and wifey ( whenever she comes along..lmao )...hence the g35 concept...

But for the price i paid for my max, combined with the v6 power as a first car....i'll floor dat baby till da rubber burns off....then i'll buy another set of falken ziex's and floor dem baby's till the tranny blows....then i'll say **** for a week and buy the g35 :-D

I honestly see everyone who has owned 4th gen maxima moving onto g35's/Z/6th gen. I mean admit it, owning a maxima kinda makes me feel strongly towards nissan and i'll nissan my life to my **** falls off

Are you talking about integra type r's??? If so you dont need a 3.5 and boost to murder that car.....also i agree about the g35, my friend just got one and damn it is insane, but just knowing that you can get a maxima to beat one of those just puts a smile to my face !

yes and no.

I like my car and I want to keep it for about another year considering Ive put a good amount of money into it, plus I have a TON of new expensive mods just laying around that need to be installed. In about a year I want to get a new car, either an '03 WRX or an S14.

The only sucky thing is, is that when I look on craigslist, there are a bunch of other 4th gen maximas in better condition WITH black interior and cost LESS than my car even after everything ive done to it.

A week ago my 1992 Jag XJS gave it up and I was faced with a car buying choice. I was convinced I wanted a BMW, but after driving a 540i (6 spd) I changed my mind. My wife's 99 ES was way tighter and rode much better.

So I inheritied the ES and we got my wife a grocery getter.

Soooooo, in a way I just bought a Maxima. We bought it new in 1999 and have yet to have a repair. Its been fantastic. I think I'll keep it awhile.

so let me get this straight...you gave up a manual 540i for a 99 nissan maxima?
Wow, somehow I think the handling wasn't the catalyst for the decision.

i love my car, i've done alot to it, and i'll never sell it, though i'll have it for a good long while, but what i'd really want is a nice 350z..g35 is nice, but a bit overpriced...when i sat in a 350z, i fell in love with how the seat just "hugged" you in place, and the 6spd shifter just felt right in your hand. I need to drive that car.

LOVE the 95 Max I've had for 6 years. Best car I owned, fun, reliable, seats the whole family and room for a cadaver or two in the trunk.

My strategy is to pay around $10K for the newest/least miles I can get. So I'mm probly apply that when I need to retire this puppy.

Hell NO! I would never buy another maxima, other than a 6th gen. I am all for Maxima's, aren't we all? But mine is slowly but surely dying on me. Tranny is slipping... CV joint is about to go, weak engine, blah. All these things, and not to mention expensive parts, sometimes. I was lucky enough to know a good mechanic for the past couple of years who would do work for cost alone. Now that Saturn has laid off all their hourly techs I will be doing the work myself.

I don't know what anyone elses opinions are of working on 11 year old, salt rusted western PA cars is.. but it sucks! If you manage to get a part off, most likely it's stripped or rusted out so you can't tighten it back up.

With that said, I love the nissan family and will never go outside. But I will be going up to an Armada. I am in love with those, and, plenty of room for a system.

Im gonna swap the 3.5 in my current one and in the future, buy two 95 5spds. Turbo one and SC the other.

In a heartbeat.

I just put dibs in on my mother's 98 Maxima. Heck...at least I know the car has been babied.

I currently own a 1999 Maxima, and just LOVE the car. When it dies, I'll pull some of the parts off of it and throw them into the 98.

Never been so disappointed in a car as I was in the BMW.

I thought it would be great. But my wife's Maxima steered tighter, had less road noise, better clutch, better shifter and more solid brakes.

Sad I know. The car had 98,000 kms was cosmetically excellent and was done. It was the only used 6spd in town, other than at the dealer $$$.

Quote: If yes what year/color?

If no what else would you consider?

Reason I ask is because I don't know many other cars that are as reliable and get great gas mileage and adequate horsepower than the Maxima.
I would buy another one up till now as I have always loved the 4th gen, but after driving her for many years I won't be buying another one then. But I plan on keeping her until she dies.

I'd of preferred the sterling mist with black leather as my first choice all things being equal, but I still love my Icelandic Pearl/Tan leather sweetheart.

I'm not sure what to get her for Valentine's day.

Quote: the hard choice is the problem of affordability, with the STI if the sticker price doesn't kill u, the insurance will... so I'm looking at the RX-8 for more bang to the buck, would get the 350Z, but its a 2 seater...

that is when u look into 02's and 03's and tune those up. they can easily be quicker than the stock STI's and can get em well under 20k. last subaru meet i went to (last sat):

rode in this:

you'd need the same motor as in the G, good tuning, and a whole lot of bolt ons. Then you might be able to keep up.
